Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild
Welcome 2026! Before our Guild meets in April the Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games will have occurred in Milan & Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. NASA is slated to return to the moon sometime between February and April, (The first mission since the Apollo Space Program ended in 1972) and no doubt our summer celebrations are certain to be extra spectacular this year honoring of The United States of America quarter millennium adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776! My point, with so much anticipation, inspiration, and celebration, I am curious to see how our craft might capture these events across our nation of ruggers.
Equal to the task, your Guild Board is excited about our upcoming events, classes, and fellowship! The following offers a current overview of our 2026 guild member hook ins, events and classes including a couple of reminders.
Guild Membership Renewal – Open now you may renew your membership anytime between Jan.1 – March 1, 2026. The renewal fee is $25.00. Checks made out to the BRHG and mailed to Laura Kalchik 3735 Greenbriar Dr. Zanesville, OH 43701 during this renewal period is appreciated. Enrollment forms can be found on : thebuckeyerughookingguild.com website, under “Membership Info”.
New Members – May join at any time throughout the year at the same fee. A new and/or renewing member should be current with guild dues prior to attending a Guild event(s). Payment information is the same as above.
BRHG Monthly Hook- In – Every month active guild members are welcome to join in for a day of hooking and fellowship at the Johnstown Library from 10 am to 2 pm. Typically, this gathering occurs on the First Thursday of each month. An exception is our annual summer event which may include vendors, special presentations, and/or a group project provided by one or more of our guild members. Join and follow our BRHG Facebook page for information specific to these events.
BRHG Spring Event: April 11, Theme: That 70s Hook In! Channel your best seventies self and Bring your groovy! Fashion, color, favorite t-shirt, seventies art, movies, whatever! Plan to spend your day with us, “Can you dig it!” More details to come soon in our Spring Event Registration with all the details.
Education/Workshop: April 9 & 10 Kelly Kanyok – Orphan Wools – Needle Punch and Hooking Project Please visit the BRHG website for more information regarding this special opportunity. BRHG Fall Event Dates - October 10th at the Double Tree by Hilton in Newark OH. Mark your calendars now and be sure to check out the website for information about Jyl Robbins Fall Workshops, Oct. 4th - 6th and 7th – 9th.
Sauder Rug Challenge 2027 – Maddy Fraioli, Show Chair, has once again curated a charming project for our guild representation at Sauder Village Rug Hooking week in 2027. Maddy sent every guild member a lovely and informative email on December 21, 2025. Details include historical information and a line drawing of the pattern, what you need to know to participate and how many individuals are needed for our challenge to be included in Rug Hooking magazine (6 participants) and/or (12 participants) to participate for an exhibit at Sauder the summer of 2027. This challenge is one that allows freedom of interpretation with over a year to complete. Maddy will share more regarding this challenge at the spring meeting.
This certainly is a good start! The Buckeye Rug Hooking Guild looks forward to another wonderful year of fellowship, creativity and sharing.
